bill frist on lynching: no comment

he Atlanta Journal-Constitution 06/15/05:

"WASHINGTON — Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist (R-Tenn.) refused repeated requests for a roll call vote that would have put senators on the record on a resolution apologizing for past failures to pass anti-lynching laws, officials involved in the negotiations said Tuesday."

bill frist, who terrorized cats previously
and thus was honorare to doves and finches
has erred again, perhaps this time more grievously
in jettisoning votes to condemn lynches

it might be that frist has never felt
that lynching was an issue to be dealt
with, since after all his grampy lost the war
way back when in 1864

or maybe he feels such a vote could ruin
a reputation cast in...let's say tin
among the folks who spend their unemployment
drinking Jack and casting back
to old-time ways and their enjoyment
